Neighbors mourn Bridgeport fatal fire victim, ID not yet officially released

BRIDGEPORT — A portion of Main Street was blocked off Wednesday as state fire investigators continued to probe for the cause of a fire that killed an elderly man and forced the evacuation of four families.
Neighbors recalled the victim, who they only knew as Mike, as a pleasant person who always greeted them with a smile and a wave.
“He was a very nice man and everyone liked him,” said Danny Pena, owner of Rosa Mini Market on the first floor of the three-story building.
