Officers remain on leave; investigation continues

SEVIERVILLE — Four Sevierville Police officers remained on administrative leave Wednesday, almost two full weeks after they were involved in the fatal shooting of an armed robbery suspect.
TBI is still investigating the Dec. 17 incident that ended in the death of 33-year-old Joshua Hoffpauir, of Sevierville.
SPD announced it was placing four officers on paid, administrative leave after the shooting.
Sgt. Justin Armstrong, and officers Mark McNabney, Tyler Hansen, and Lance Chandler remained on administrative leave Wednesday, SPD spokesman Bob Stahlke said.
The incident started when a person called 911 and said they’d been robbed outside a store on the Parkway by a group of three people armed with a knife and a handgun, according to police.
