Rev Sandy Sutherland, Brora, writes about the sad loss of community stalwart Hetty Cunningham who died just weeks after celebrating her 104th birthday
Two weeks ago last Tuesday I set off from our home at Dalchalm, Brora, for my daily walk. It was a beautiful day with blue skies overhead and spring flowers along the waysides—a proper “spring-in-one’s-step” sort of day.
I took a different route to normal and in reaching Achrimsdale just north of the village I recognised a gentleman who just happened to be out feeding his hens. We had not seen one another since 1986! What then transpired was a Covid-safe chat about old times. Almost inevitably we recalled fond memories of local characters we both knew.
