Obituary: GLD co-founder Simon Bamber
Simon Bamber, the co-founder of licensing and distribution firm GLD Group, has died after a “very short and sudden illness”.
Bamber set up UK-based GLD in 2006. It has the licencing rights for Superga in the UK and Republic of Ireland, owns streetwear brand Addict outright, has the licence for Duck and Cover footwear, and the rights to make football-linked footwear via a business called Basiz.
GLD paid tribute to Bamber: “It is with great sadness we are advising that our business partner, co-founder and friend Simon Bamber has passed away after a very short and sudden illness. Ewan Scott and Kirsten Ryan set up the GLD Group with Simon in 2007, having originally worked with him in the mid-90s as the Kappa licensee when he was the CEO of Basic Net.
