The U.S. is recommending a “pause” in the administration of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to investigate reports of potentially dangerous blood clots.
OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — The Oakland County Health Division is pausing the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine following the recommendation from the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention because of blood-clot concerns.
County health officials said people scheduled to receive the J&J vaccine Tuesday at a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Oakland University will instead receive the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Officials said they are reviewing and evaluating future J&J appointments to determine if other vaccines can be used in place of the J&J vaccine.
