We don’t have any time to lose. With Tuesday’s release of the final report of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, the time has come to deliver the mental health reform Victorians have so desperately needed for years.
In my 29 years in the Victorian government, including as departmental secretary in the portfolios of human services and education, I have witnessed the human consequences of year after year of the declining investment of budget, policy and innovation in mental health.
