Washington — House Democrats from New York are threatening to oppose future tax legislation unless it includes a repeal of the state and local tax deduction cap, amping up the pressure on congressional leadership to make that change in the package they’re planning to tether to President Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill.
Democrats in New York’s House delegation except U.S. reps. Kathleen Rice, D- Garden City, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D- Bronx, signed a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D- Calif., saying: “This issue is so critical to our state and our constituents that we will reserve the right to oppose any tax legislation that does not include a full repeal of the SALT limitation.”
