HOUSTON — A nurse working at a healthcare facility in Harris County who was attacked and beaten by a patient is claiming his former employer failed to protect its workers.
Murrey Burnside filed a complaint April 19 in Harris County District Court against Res-Care Inc., doing business as BrightSpring Health Services, BrightSpring Health Services and John Doe alleging negligence.
Burnside alleges in his complaint that while working as a nurse for Res-Care and BrightSpring Health in Harris County on April 4, 2019, he was "violently attacked and beaten" by a patient being transported within the facility. He claims that as a result of the attack, he suffered "severe" physical and emotional injuries including physical impairment and disfigurement as well as loss of earnings.
