NUP's Ssempijja wins Makerere University guild presidency

Opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party-leaning candidate Ivan Ssempijja has been elected the new guild president of Makerere University, replacing Julius Kateregga.
In the election that was organized both physically and online, Ssempijja, a fourth-year student of bachelor of Medicine and Surgery defeated two other candidates in the race.
Ssempijja garnered 3,112 votes while his closest rival, Aaron Oguttu obtained 1,833 votes and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party candidate Edwine Bbosa Bwetuyita garnered 248 votes.
