The continued silence of the Edo State Government and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development over the hosting of the National Sports Festival, which had been rescheduled to hold next month, is giving the country’s athletes cause for concern.
The National Council on Sports had after its meeting February 8, moved the festival, which was initially set to hold between February 14 and 28, to April.
The festival was postponed after Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, stated that the state didn’t have the funds to host the event.
The PUNCH had reported that the Federal Government and the Edo State Government made a joint proposal for the festival, tagged Edo 2020, to be held from either April 8 to 22 or April 10 to 22.
