Notorious ASG leader and bomb expert killed in clash with government forces in Basilan | A notorious Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) leader and bomb expert, Mudzrimar “Mundi” Sawadjaan, was killed in a clash with government troops in Basilan province. Sawadjaan, who had perpetrated several atrocities including suicide bombings, was intercepted while attempting to leave for Sulu. The neutralization of Sawadjaan brings justice to the hundreds of victims of his atrocities. Joint Task Force (JTF)-Orion and 101st Infantry Brigade are commended for their relentless efforts in keeping Basilan peaceful and safe. Remaining ASG members are urged to follow the path to peace and development. The provincial government of Basilan facilitated the traditional Muslim burial rites for the slain terrorist leader.
