LOCATIONS. NORTON WOMEN’S CARE INOS W OFFERING A NEW DOULA PROAMGR THAT WILL SERVE PARENTS IN WEST LOUIILLE.SV IT IS THE FIRST PROGRAM IN KENTUCKY EMPLOYING DOULAS AS PART OF THE CARE TEAM. THE TEAM PLANS TO HIRE 3 DOULAS BY SEPTEMBER. DIULAS ARE TRAINED PROFESSIONALS WHO ARE SOURCES FOR INFORMATION FOR PARENTS. THEY HELP PROVIDE ADVOCACY AND SUPPORT, HELP COMMUNICATE WITH DOCTORS AND PROMOTE BONDING BETWEEN NEWBORNS AND THE PARENTS. FOR NOW, THE FREE PROGRAM IS ONLY OPEN TO WOMEN LIVING IN WEST LOUISVILLE’S CALIFORNIA, , PORTLAND, AND WRESTLED NEIGHBORHOODS. THE GOAL IS TO ADDRESS HEALTH DISPARITIES THAT EXIST FOR MINORITYOM WEN. >> OFTEN TIMES, SOME OF ROU WOMEN AND ESPECIALLY WOMEN OF COLOR, SEAL LIKE THEY ARE NOT BEING HEARD. THEY DON’T KNOW THE QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN MEETING WH PROVIDERS. SO WE WENT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE AT THE FOREFRONT OF THAT AND WE RECOGNIZE THAT AND WE ARE BEING A VOE ICFOR THEM. SO THESE DOULASAN C GET THEM SOME OF THE QUESTIONS THAT THEY NEED TO ASK THEIR PROVIDERS SO THEY MAKE SURE THEY HAVE A POSITIVE AND HEALTHY OUTCOME.
