A shoot-out outside a Northeast Side grocery store Sunday afternoon left an innocent bystander wounded along with one of the people involved in the shooting, Columbus police say.
Multiple 911 calls about shots fired came in around 2:50 p.m. Sunday from the Save-A-Lot grocery store at 2200 Mock Road near Brentnell Avenue on the Northeast Side. Some witnesses reported hearing 20 or more gunshots.
When officers arrived, they found 59-year-old Kimberly Jackson and 30-year-old Shawn Nooks injured. Police initially believed both Jackson and Nooks were bystanders and not involved in the incident.
Both Jackson and Nooks were taken to area hospitals in critical condition, but their conditions were later upgraded and both are expected to survive their injuries, police said.
