North Texas mail carriers are working to catch up on missed deliveries because of winter storm
No packages or envelopes — even those containing lifesaving medications — were delivered while operations were halted.
A winter storm last week forced the U.S. Postal Service to halt delivery in some areas, leaving millions of Texans without mail.
Icy roads and mass power outages prompted the mail system to suspend operations in Alabama, Texas and Mississippi — an occurrence previously unheard of, said Kimetra Lewis, a dispute resolution specialist who has been with the postal service since 1987. She also serves as president of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Dallas chapter.
