ASHEBORO - The North Carolina Zoo is now opening up seasonal positions for its peak season of March through October. Last year, the zoo didn't hire any seasonal workers since it was closed from March to June and barely managing to stay afloat.
The zoo had a deficit of $4.5 million over the past fiscal year due to the pandemic, leading the zoo staff to make significant cuts to operating expenses. While the zoo did not furlough any permanent workers, they chose not to hire seasonal labor unless absolutely necessary.
Now that restrictions have eased and the zoo could earn more revenue, they have opened up many seasonal jobs. The open positions include:
