For the first time in his high school career, Ronan pitched back-to-back no-hitters as the Rockets beat Triopia 10-0 in six innings.
Ronan didn’t record a strikeout for every out in Monday’s game, as he did last week against West Central, but he came close. The University of Hawaii recruit struck out 14 batters, issued two walks and hit a batter. But it was still a dominating performance for the senior left-hander.
“He’s very impressive — been impressive his whole career, but could really see his maturity today,” Triopia coach Rich Thompson said. “He’s got a terrific demeanor out there on the mound. He’s very confident. You can see it. But he’s added miles per hour to his fastball, and his breaking stuff is pretty nasty. We haven’t seen anything like that.
