A family escaped their home after a kitchen fire started Thursday morning, and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.
The Rochester Hills Fire Department was summoned just before 7:30 a.m. Dec. 17 with the report of a house fire.
Firefighters arrived to find light smoke coming from the door, Public Information Officers John Lyman said in a statement.

They found the fire in the kitchen â on the stove and burning into the kitchen hood vent.
Already, the family, including two children, were outside of the home, uninjured. Firefighters confined the blaze to the kitchen area.
The fire was determined to be accidental, starting during cooking, Fire Marshal and Assistant Chief Bill Cooke said in a statement.
