No date yet, but major ceremonies planned for USS Mobile

The commissioning of the USS Mobile in its namesake city will be a grand occasion when it happens this spring, organizers promised Thursday, though they aren’t yet able to reveal an exact date.
“Mobile has hosted many ship commissionings over the years,” said retired Navy Capt. Bill Pfister, the president of the Mobile Council of the U.S. Navy League. “No commissioning is as personal or important as the commissioning of a namesake city’s ship in the city it is named for, and in the place where the sons and daughters of the area built it.”
