Prosecutors have decided not to pursue any charges against a man who reportedly shot and killed another man outside the victim's southwest Marion County residence several months ago.
Omar Parrera allegedly shot Bradley Pease once in the chest on Sept. 19 at 4725 SW 166th Court near Dunnellon, according to a memorandum from Assistant State Attorney Rich Buxman.
The 32-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital, where he died.
Buxman gave several explanations on why Parrera wasn't charged with the shooting.
The state, the prosecutor outlines in the six-page document, "has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the suspect did not act in self-defense and was not in fear for his life when he pulled the trigger and shot the victim."
