For the 30,000-odd residents of 15 villages in UP's Shamli district, the dilapidated 4km road connecting them to the Meerut-Karnal highway has been a source of peril and marital frustration for over 25 years. Locals choose to walk to get to the highway to find transport to reach healthcare facilities, markets, and educational institutions, rather than risk their lives driving on this stretch.
