MOUNT HOLLY - Our brief period of clear skies and warm temperatures is going back on pause again, due to a strong cold front approaching the state which is setting up severe thunderstorms and temperatures significantly dropping by Wednesday night, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.
Heavy rain is expected to begin by 1 p.m. for most of the state, before moving off-shore by around 4 to 5 p.m., along with severe thunderstorms likely hovering around the Delaware River Valley, according to private meteorologist Steven DiMartino, who runs NY NJ PA Weather.
These storms will be capable of bringing intense downpours, frequent lightning, small hail and severe gusts up to 60 mph, DiMartino said. Isolated tornadoes are also possible for Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, and southeastern Ocean counties.
