Ngugi wa Thiong'o and Ngugi wa Mirii's I Will Marry When I Want: Kenya's play of the year on the unresolved issues of independence

The current production marks the first time in 45 years since Ngugi wa Thiong’o’s play attacking Kenya’s post-independence capitalism, corruption and religious hypocrisy has been staged in Kenya. Its success among the audience is testament that many of its themes continue to resonate today.
