PUTNEY â An outdoor and socially distanced performance series kicks off this weekend.
The Bandwagon Summer Series, organized by Next Stage Arts in Putney, begins Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a âShake it Off, Shake it all Offâ Dance Party hosted by Manhattanâs DJ Nickodemus, founding father of the âTurntables on the Hudsonâ parties and the workhouse behind the âWonderwheelâ record label. The series continues through the middle of October, with more than 20 performances of music, circus arts, dance and theater. The shows will take place in ballfields, farms and parks in Windham County.
âThe idea, is to engage and inspire creative spirits of all ages as Windham County becomes the stage to celebrate the arts in a safe and socially responsible way,â Keith Marks, executive director of Next Stage Arts, said. âWeâre building on the areaâs creative and rich history, dynamic performance and arts community, while offering an exciting mix of diverse talent from near and far. Folks are eager to get out and shake off the winter and COVID. Weâre excited to present this outdoor, socially-distanced cultural performance series. This is something we all need right now.â
