Newsom in Siskiyou County to tour Lava Fire

After Weed Mayor Sue Tavalero gave California Gov. Gavin Newsom a short history lesson about her community Tuesday afternoon, she told him he shouldn't leave town without visiting the local gift shop and picking up a Weed t-shirt.
Newsom came to Siskiyou County to tour the Lava Fire. He stopped at Weed High School, where smoke and flames can be seen on the horizon, to be briefed by fire and emergency management officials who are battling the massive wildfire, which grew to 17,591 acres, the U.S. Forest Service said Wednesday morning. The fire is 19% contained.
