News of the World begins streaming on Netflix on February 10.
REVIEW: Those expecting a tell-all drama detailing Murdoch machinations, tabloid journalism and fake sheikhs are going to be disappointed.
Fear not though, this
News of the World (which begins streaming on Netflix on February 10) offers something even more compelling. It sees Tom Hanks star in a Western directed by the man who delivered us
United 93 and the three best
Bourne movies – Paul Greengrass.
As in its source material, Paulette Jiles’ 2016 novel of the same name,
News is the story of Civil War veteran Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd (Hanks). It’s 1870 – five years after that conflict officially ceased –and North Texas’ Wichita Falls is just the latest stop on Kidd’s mission to enlighten citizens to the world around them.
