Vice President Kamala Harris made her first visit to Michigan as vice president Monday, landing at Detroit Metro Airport at 12:40 p.m., with plans to spend the day at TCF Center in Detroit to talk about voting rights, COVID-19 vaccines and to stump for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's reelection campaign.
Harris was greeted at the airport by Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, and U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence, D-Southfield. She arrived at TCF shortly afterwards.
During her visit to TCF, she was expected to hold a listening session about voting rights with Michigan State Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and community advocates.
