Dozens headed to the 'slopes' of Central Park Thursday afternoon with plastic sleds and makeshifts versions 
Footage on social media showed some people skiing through the park to get around the city
Children took advantage of a snow day as the Big Apple's schools were closed Thursday due to the storm
