How does the program work?
This voluntary program is free and provides businesses and organizations with an easy checklist to help determine their recognition level, technical assistance from the Leon County’s Sustainability Team, and connects recognized businesses with others in the community by creating a sustainable business network.
There are several required criteria including an energy audit, utility and waste monitoring, and eliminating the use of polystyrene (Styrofoam) and plastic bags in operations.
In order to be recognized, businesses and organizations must earn a minimum number of points across the sustainability topic areas of energy, water, transportation, waste reduction, employee and community engagement, local economy, and innovation.
