New Report Focuses on Religious Literacy in the Media

The role played by local newspapers and radio in encouraging an understanding of faith has been highlighted by a new report.
Learning to Listen, the 98-page report on Religion in the Media, forms part of a wide-ranging review of ‘religious literacy’ across UK press and broadcasting.
Peter Crumpley, a Church of England minister who previously trained as a news reporter, says journalists are often unaware of the rich source of news and feature stories that lie within faith communities.
He told Christian Today, faith leaders are often either wary of the media or are not aware that newspapers and radio stations would welcome hearing from them.
