Progress on the upcoming new Protective Services building at Cochrane’s west end is on track, according to an update on the project dated January 25.
Under the Municipal Police Service Agreement, it’s the municipality that provides a building to accommodate police members and the local RCMP have outgrown their current home. The update indicated the current detachment “is well beyond its functional life.”

The new facility is to be built on a parcel in Heartland on the south side of the highway at the intersection with Horse Creek Road. The written update credited the community members of the Protective Services Advisory Committee for their contributions in figuring out the optimal location.
