New NC maps will make New Hanover state senate fight tough on newcomer Democrat

Former Brunswick County prosecutor Jason Minnicozzi is set to challenge Republican State Senator Michael Lee for the Senate District 7. But the Democratic candidate will have to compete under newly approved maps — which carve several strongly Democratic precincts out of downtown Wilmington, adding them to heavily Republican Senate District 8, which includes Columbus and Brunswick counties.
