Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Region of the U. S. Forest Service has a new deputy regional forester although he is a familiar face.
Chad VanOrmer started his Forest Service career 20 years ago on the Tongass National Forest.
He has served as the acting deputy regional forester for nearly a year.
VanOrmer moved to Alaska in 2001 as a recreation planner on the Craig Ranger District.
He moved back east to take another agency assignment but returned in 2010 to work as the district ranger for the Admiralty Island National Monument and Hoonah.
