Thomas T. Bak, 75, of Plainville, passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, after a long battle with Cancer. He passed in his home under the care of his nephew, Paul Bak Jr. Tom received the best care possible from his nephew Paul and the doctors and nurses at the VA hospital.
He was born on April 21, 1945, in New Britain, the son of the late John and Josephine (Meder) Bak. After serving in the Army in the 82nd Airborne he went on to work a long career as maintenance technician, eventually retiring from CMHA.
Tom prided himself on fixing small engines and tinkering in his garage where he was “open for business” when the garage door was up. He would work on anything dropped off on his doorstep and always had a joke to tell. Tom was also an avid hunter and fisherman and a longtime member of the Southington Sportsman Club. He spent countless hours trolling Colebrook Reservoir in search of the big one, although he was happier just being on the water and watching the wildlife. He also loved to hunt, from Canada to Maine as well as right here in Conn. Tom probably enjoyed sitting in his tree stand watching the birds and scratching his lottery tickets more than the actual harvest. Tom also enjoyed spending time just walking in the woods with his nephew Paul Bak Jr. (Jr) and Luna, Buttons as he called her. He would sit in amazement as the dog would navigate through the woods to find him from a half mile away.
