A New Bern man was taken to Greenville after sustaining injuries during a hit and run late Wednesday afternoon.
Officers with the New Bern Police Department say at approximately 5:50 p.m. Michael Garris, 31, of New Bern, was walking First Street near the intersection of Rhem Avenue when he was hit by an unknown car, according to a news release from NBPD.
Officers were able to talk to a witness at the scene while Garris was being airlifted to VIdant Medical Center due to the extent of his injuries. Officials did not release what type of injuries Garris has.
The circumstances of the collision are under investigation and anyone with information regarding this hit and run is asked to call Officer A. Williams with the Traffic Enforcement Unit at (252) 672-4272.
