New Bedford Police: No Stabbing at Dottin Place
NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police wrote on the department’s official Facebook page this afternoon that while they did respond to a disturbance at the Dottin Place housing development earlier today, it was not a stabbing, as originally reported.
Police say the incident involved a juvenile, and that the response “resulted in a temporary, heavy police presence in that area.” They also noted that “the situation has been resolved peacefully, and there is not threat to the public at this time.”
Earlier reports, including across the police scanner, had suggested the incident was a stabbing; police say the investigation determined the injury was actually self-inflicted, and was a “minor laceration to the hand.”
