Work has begun at Sarnia’s Great Lakes secondary school to create an artificial turf sports field and eight-lane running track with a synthetic surface to replace the aging field and track facilities at the recently expanded and renovated city high school.
The nearly $5.4-million project was approved in April by the Lambton Kent District school board, business superintendent Brian McKay said.

The work also includes areas at Great Lakes for other track and field events, and a grass soccer field on the south side of the school property, he added.
