Neil Mackay: Scottish pupils are being cheated time and again by an SNP government out of its depth
A LOT of self-pitying whining currently abounds. We’ve tourists crying into their half-packed suitcases that summer holidays are ruined due to new Covid travel restrictions. While it might be tempting to say ‘catch yourself on, it was stupid to think you could travel, so quit being so damn selfish’, perhaps the kinder response is a brief: “Sorry, but there’s a pandemic on.”
Then we’ve folk like music promoter Geoff Ellis ‘blasting’ the Scottish government’s “Project Fear”, demanding a firm date for an end to social distancing so people can return to partying. Again, the kindest response is: “Sorry, but there’s a pandemic on.” Clearly, there’s sympathy with struggling industries - but public health comes first.
