SPOKANE, Wash. — Nearly 6,000 Avista customers are without power in Spokane.
According to the Avista outage map, the outage is affecting people in the Nevada/Lidgerwood neighborhood, residents in the Country Homes area and homes along Government Way between Palisades Park and Spokane Falls Community College. A separate outage is now also affecting people in the High Drive, Eagle Ridge and Thorpe Road areas.
At its peak, roughly 8,250 people were without power, partially caused by unplanned outages from Avista to spare the electric grid.
The first outage was reported at 1:45 p.m. and all are set to be restored by 6 p.m, just as some of the hottest temperatures of the day are expected to hit.
