Saskatchewan’s NDP Opposition wants the government to grab the reins and try to save thoroughbred horse racing at Marquis Downs in Saskatoon.
Matt Love, a Saskatoon MLA and critic for parks, recreation and sport, called on the government to meet with the Saskatchewan Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association.

Love said association officials have estimated that between 500 and 1,000 people are employed directly or indirectly in the horse racing industry in the province.
