AUBURN, MA — The Home Depot store in Auburn was shut down Tuesday afternoon due to a natural gas leak, according to fire officials.
The Auburn Fire Department reported the leak around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. The building was evacuated after a liquified natural gas leak was discovered in the rear of the building, fire officials said.
The store would remain closed "for the night," Auburn fire officials said. Around 6 p.m., firefighters initiated a controlled burn of the gas, which was expected to last until around 2 a.m.
