ORISKANY, N.Y. – It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week – a time to show appreciation for the 911 dispatchers who work every day to get people the help they need in an emergency.
The men and women who work in emergency services have to remain calm and collected during dire situations.
“They are the first person who will be in touch with the people any of the first responders are seeing after the fact, and they gather that information and relay it to the first responders as well as keeping those people who are on the call calm,” said Edward Stevens, director of Oneida County Emergency Services.
