The FDA made the expected announcement Monday and by Thursday, Metro Nashville Public Schools told parents the district has partnered with Vanderbilt Health to help families schedule appointments for their children.
The vaccine previously could be administered only to people as young as 16, so some Nashville high schoolers have gotten their shot but most students have not.
That added age group came through an expansion of the emergency use authorization the FDA initially granted Pfizer for its vaccine against the virus. The 12-15 age group will receive the same dosage of vaccine as those 16 and older, which is two shots administered three weeks apart.
