A RUTHIN nail technician who underwent a career change during the Coronavirus pandemic has been shortlisted for a prize at the prestigious Hair and Beauty Awards.
Helen Szabo, from Glasdir, had to leave her job as an office manager in 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic meaning she would need to stay at home and care for her two children.
Undeterred by this, the 36-year-old decided to take up some training in order to become a nail technician - something she says she had 'always wanted to do'.
By August 2020, Helen had qualified and set up her mobile 'Nails by Hels' business. In less than a year, she has already enjoyed some recognition and has just recently made the final shortlist for the 'Best Gel Nails' prize at the Hair and Beauty Awards.
