Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): SUMAN (Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan) scheme, a government initiative that focuses on assured delivery of maternal and new born health services was launched in Longleng, Mokokchung and Wokha districts. SUMAN scheme was launched in Longleng district on October 26 by Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak, EAC of Longleng district; Dr. Obangjungla, chief medical officer (CMO) of Longleng; and Dr. Kibangkumba, medical superintendent of District Hospital, Longleng. An update from CMO’s office stated that Dr. S Imnameren Phom, DIO (RCH/UIP), made a powerpoint presentation on SUMAN scheme and the procedures to avail the service. Dr. Obangjungla informed that that SUMAN scheme is an important initiative by the government for the mother and child health. She has sought active participation of community for successful implementation of the scheme. While informing that government has launched various health schemes, Dr. Samuel lamented that lack of knowledge to avail the service made the schemes a failure. He, therefore, encouraged the people to make use of the facilities.
