The situation of press freedom in Myanmar continues to worsen one year on from the beginning of the military coup on February 1, 2021, with 46 journalists and media workers detained, one killing and crushing restrictions on the nation’s media. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) strongly condemns the junta’s continued censorship and quashing of critical reportage and calls on the international community to do more to protect the livelihoods and safety of journalists in Myanmar.
