Mutti – the No.1 tomato brand in Italy and Europe – has been awarded The British Chamber of Commerce for Italy (BCCI) WPP Corporate Social Responsibility Award for its 120 years respectful legacy of producing high-level tomato products.The BCCI Business Excellence Awards were first launched in 2018and honour businesses which have excelled across five chosen categories as an example and inspiration to others. Mutti received the prestigious CSR accolade in recognition of its mission to use a simple raw material and bring it to its highest expression.
Since the beginning Mutti decided to approach tomato differently: the company buys only high-quality tomatoes and applies premium pricing policies in order to support and encourage the great work of its supply chain. A business model that brought Mutti the Italian and European market leadership, powered by one thing: respect. Respect for farmers, supporting them both economically and technically in their activities; for employees, giving them insurance policies, family benefits like economical support for nursery and primary schools and other exceptional supports, for instance during the most critical moment of COVID19 pandemic the company disposed a 25% salary increase for all the people in charge of production and logistic duties. A small recognition for their outstanding commitment; and finally, for environment, developing constantly new ways to improve its sustainable impact: Mutti has in important partnership with WWF Italia through which develop several innovative projects such as the reduction of carbon and water footprint in tomato fields and in production plants and the improvement of environmental wellness in Parma’s Food Valley.
