Five young children and a 24-year-old man were shot and killed early Tuesday at their home in Muskogee.The children’s mother also was shot, and she’s now fighting for her life at a Tulsa hospital.According to police, they received a call around 1:30 a.m. about a shooting at a home on Indiana Street. When officers arrived and before they knew the magnitude of what happened, they found the suspect holding a gun.“An officer fires at that suspect, who doesn’t drop the weapon,” said Lynn Hamlin, with the Muskogee Police Department. “That officer misses. The subject takes off running. There’s a short pursuit, and he’s taken into custody.”After a foot pursuit, police got the suspect in custody, and authorities could begin their investigation. Police identified the suspect as Jarron Pridgeon, 25.That’s when the horror set in as to what happened inside the home.Four children and Javarion Lee, 24, were dead inside after they had been shot. Police said Lee was Pridgeon’s brother.The children’s mother, Brittany Anderson, also had been shot. Police found another child fighting to survive, but that child died. “An adult victim and another child transported by life flight to a Tulsa hospital,” Hamlin said. “We were notified a short time later the child is also deceased.” Police have identified the child victims as Jalaiya Pridgeon, 1, Jaidus Pridgeon, 3, Harmony Anderson, 5, Neveah Pridgeon, 6 and Que'dynce Anderson, 9. Brittany Anderson remains in the hospital. Police said she was in stable condition.“It just affects a lot of people. Affects the officers on scene, dispatchers, EMS, the fire department, but it also affects the people in the community,” Hamlin said.Police said Jarron Pridgeon is in custody for the murders but is not cooperating with the investigation.“It’s a tough day in our department,” Hamlin said.
