The younger sister of murdered MP Jo Cox, Kim Leadbeater, has been confirmed as the Labour candidate for the by-election in Cox's old constituency of Batley & Spen.
The 44-year-old said she is 'honoured' to stand for the party in her hometown after doing 'a lot of soul-searching' about what's 'best for the place I love'.
The campaigner and ambassador for the Jo Cox Foundation, who is also a personal trainer, confirmed last week that she was putting her hat in the ring.
This evening it was announced she had been chosen by Labour members over shortlisted candidates Hugh Goulbourne, a lawyer from Huddersfield, and Hasnain Khan, a 3rd year medical student at Sheffield University.
