MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie teenager has been arrested in the city's latest homicide.
Martel Lavel Jones-Lampkins, 21, died on June 25, three days after he was found suffering from gunshot wounds in Heekin Park, on Muncie's south side.
A 16-year-old suspect in the shooting was arrested Tuesday, according to Deputy Police Chief Melissa Pease.
He was being held Tuesday night at the Delaware County Juvenile Detention Center. It was unclear whether legal efforts were already underway to seek to have the case waived into adult court.
Juveniles have now been arrested in connection with the two most recent of Muncie's seven homicides in 2021.
