MUNCIE, Ind. — In an effort to help mitigate teacher turnover, the Muncie Community School Board on Tuesday unanimously approved a wage increase for teachers totaling $1,346,900 for the district.
Board member Dave Heeter, a member of the CEO Committee for Compensation, brought the recommendation to the table, thanking the most recent Indiana Legislature for the possibility of the salary increase.
"That legislation encourages us to keep increasing pay for teachers, something we’ve been able to do over the last couple of years," Heeter said during the meeting. "But I think we all know it’s something we need to continue to focus on."
